My Comenius days in Germany, MatijaMarković
When we first arrived to the town of Amber, we
met up with our hosts and the first night we went to the bowling alley. This
was the first time I had bowled and I hit a strike also that it was where I
learned that in Germany you could buy beer when you are 16. We went to a
Bavarian restaurant and I ate one of the best steaks I have eaten in a long
time. The family I stayed with was very hospitable and I felt at home. Also,
the food was very good. We also had a good time in some clubs at night.
My exchange partner Jonas and I went along
great. We had the same interest in cars, music and videogames. Sights that we
have seen, and especially the Nuremberg court room for the crimes of war, I
found it very interesting to be sitting in the same room where all the Nazi war
criminals had been trialed. Another interesting sight was a village which was
divided by the Wall .I learned a lot about the German history, all the way back
to the Dark Ages.
I met a lot of interesting new people from
other parts of Europe and learned a bit about their countries and history. I
hope to meet some of them again one day.

My stay in Germany was very
pleasant. I stayed at Michael Gehr’s house in a small town called Amberg.
Amberg is located in the Bavarian part of Germany.
My host Michael is a cool
guy, and I liked him. He and the other exchange hosts were very nice and wanted
to show us everything interesting about their hometown, from restaurants to
café houses and clothing shops. We saw it all. The other exchange students were
very cool and sociable, too. We (the Croatians) found the Polish students
particularly sociable, since they have a sort of same history as the Croatians
do. So, we had a lot of mutual topics to talk about. The stay at Michael’s
house was very nice. I cannot complain. The food was great and the company too.
They were actually in Croatia last year I think, and they liked the stay in
Croatia, too. In Nürnberg we visited the museums about the Nazi influence in
that city and their plans for the city. The museum was quite nice but I found
it that the museum lacked the physical items, such as rifles, clothing and all
the common items from that era. I cannot say there weren’t any but there
weren’t as many as we have in Croatian museums.
The whole project was a
great experience for me. I would very much like to go to another one if I
could. All in all, I look forward to the exchange partners and the other
students visit to Croatia.

My Comenius days in
Germany, Marin Vranjican
I enjoyed my stay in Germany because we
were always doing something and we were always learning new things. We also had
time to have fun and to go out. We visited Amberg, Nürnberg and Mödlareuth. I
liked meeting a lot of new people from various countries. In my opinion,
everybody got along well and had fun.
The family I stayed
at was very kind and generous. I am looking forward to the next OWTF trip I
will be part of because I like traveling and learning about other countries and
their history.
I think all
countries did a great job at presenting their history through documentaries
although some of the documentaries could have been made a little bit more fun or intriguing. Still, I consider
them all to be very good.
All in all, I had a great time over there,
everybody was nice, the people were good and funny. Also, all the Germans did
their best to show us a good time while we were there. I enjoyed visiting the
museums and all the important places that have something to do with German
history because I learned so much about the Nazis, life along the wall and life
after the wall came down. In Nürnberg we visited 2 museums all about the German
Nazis, and I liked learning about the history of the court room where some big
criminals were prosecuted and how a lot of the design of the court room had a
special meaning. We heard many new things about the World War II.
All in all, I had a
great time over there and I’d like to visit it all again.
My Comenius days in Germany, Luka Maranić
I went to Germany and It was great I really like their food especially
sausages they were really good. We
visited a lot of museums and they were really interesting. The most interesting
part was when we visited the museum of Numbeg process. It was really scary to
sit in the same room as the war criminals during the World War 2. We also
visited the restaurant which had the best steak I have had in a long time. They
even put the fried onion slices on the steak. My god was it god. Also my
Exchange partners family made really good lunches, I had lasgne with meat and
with some sort of spinach at the same time!! My host Lukas took me with his
gang and my other friends to the bowling alley. That the first time I had ever
bowled and with my first time throw I crushed all the pins. We also visited
some sort of a club and they had awesome swiss roll it was really tasty. I
enjoyed that swiss roll in the ways I shouldn’t have. I also visited the church above Amberg with
my host and his father and it had really impressive view over the city. Only
downside they didn’t had any food there but it was my hosts birthday so when we
came back we ate the chicken in some sort of a paprika sauce and it was really
good. Also his brother had two sets of drums and he also played the piano
so I grabbed the guitar and we had tasty jam. All in all it was pretty nice. I
think I won’t forget this experience so soon.

My Comenius
days in Germany, Ivan Malik WadiŠutija
From 3 March I participated in a project by the
European union held in the city of Amberg. Me and a few of other Croatian
students travellled to Bavaria full of expectations. We met with the other
country representatives at the Numberg train station and we travelled to Amberg
where we were first introduced to our German hosts.
Our
first day was mostly concentrated on getting to know our hosts and other
countries participants. The Germans took us to a bowling alley where we drank
beer and talked. Unfortunately, they were not 18 years old so they weren' t
allowed to stay out past 10. The next few days we went to a museum in Numberg
in which the rise of the 3rd Reich was portrayed. We saw many videos and
documents describing Hitler's rise to the position of chancellor and the
beginning of World War 2. We also saw the infamous courtroom 600 in which the
trials to the top of the Nazi German Reich took place. Each night our hosts
would take us to Amberg to meet with our friends and the other project
participants and took us to bars and coffee shops. One of the most memorable
trips in Germany was the trip to a village separated in half by the border between
East and West Germany. We saw guard encampments and the wall itself, as well as
the means of monitoring and escape prevention.
To summarize
my trip to Germany, I would have to describe it as fun and exciting. I am glad
I participated in a project like that and saw all that Germany had to offer. I
would very much like to repeat my visit.

My Comenius days in Germany, Tea Strnišćak
On 14 March 2013 we went to Germany. We were there for 3 days. We had a pretty full schedule, but on the other hand, we had enough free time.
On Friday, March 15, I had to go to the lessons with my exchange partner. I realized that their school was so much different than ours. After first three lessons, we watched documentary movies. It was very interesting. I learned a lot about other countries and their history... After that, we had free time to go
sightseeing in Amberg. I really enjoyed it. In the evening we went to the Waterworld.
Next day, we were in Nuremberg. In Nuremberg we went to see two museums. I liked it because we had a chance to learn so much about the German Nazis. I enjoyed the time spend in Nuremberg because it is a very nice city with long history and so much places to see and visit! I found so many beautiful places for spending time with my friends or family. I’d like to visit Nuremberg again.
On Sunday our only obligation was to visit Mödlareuth, a small village known for the Berlin wall. We saw about 20 different types of vehicles used in the World War II. After that, we saw a small piece of the
Berlin wall which was not crashed down so it could be a tourist attraction. I heard so many new and
interesting facts about the World War II. Finally, I must say I really enjoyed this trip to Germany. I was most impressed by the museum in Mödlareuth and the downtown of Nuremberg. I’d like to visit it again.
