My
trip to Lithuania
by
Maret Hobolainen
My trip to Lithuania started very early.
We had to go to Tallinn to get the bus that drives us
in the Vilnius. The bus
that brings us to Vilnius was Lux Express. Altough the drive was nine hours
long I really liked it. The seats in our bus were very comfortable and we had a
lot of space in there. There was free coffe and hot chocolate too. It was very
nice drive.
When we finally arrived to Vilnius,
we had to wait to another bus that drives us to our sleeping place. We waited
it for two hours. When we finally got to our hotel it was too late to do
something so we went
to sleep.
In the next day we went to the
school. It was in a little cute village. There wasn’t too many students in this
school but I liked it. It looks so friendly and cozy. We also visited some
museums in that day.
Some of them were quite boring. Some of them were
interesting. We visited the Vilinius Old Town too
at that day. The Old Town was
quite similar to Tallinn but I liked it. It was very beautyful.
In our last day in Lithuania we
visited most interesting museum I’ve ever been. It was so cool.
We went museum
that talks about Russian occupation in Lithuania. There was like a play and we
were part of this. That was very cool experiance.
I liked my trip to Vilnius very
much. It was very interesting and instructive. I hope that I can come back to
Lithuania some time.

I
will start form the part when we arrived in Vilnius because my bus trip that
lasted 9 hours is not so interesting. When we arrived in Vilnius we had to wait
for 2 hours outside where was cold and really freezing, we had to wait because
nobody didn’t know where did we get off the bus. Finally when everybody were
complaining how cold it is, we were found and then began our adventure in
Lithuania.
On the 1th day we visited a geographic and
climbed on a hill. The second day we visited a church
and saw a monument next
to the church, later we went to a historical museum, we had our own guide
who
speaked about the jewellery, treasure and more historical items.
I
dont quite remember everything because I have some memorizing problems, I
jumped on a trampoline
and then I broke my nose with my knee, sounds weird but
it’s possible, but it all happened in Estonia,
not in Lithuania.
The
third day we were in a museum and ate in a beautiful restaurant, also we made
cepelines
in the restaurant. The last day we visited a Soviet bunker where we
had a lot of fun, we learned how to wear a gas mask, also we weared the coats
from that time. At the evening we played bowling and ate a very large pizza. I
really had a wonderful time and I will definetely visit Lithuania again.

Comenius days in Lithuania

It
was my first time in Lithuania. First we had to drive two hours to Tallinn to
get on the bus. Then we drove about 8-9 hours.
We
were told to get off the bus in the bus station next to Panorama. But there was
a problem with it, because there is 2 Panoramas on Vilnius – big shopping
center and also hotel. Of course we came out next to the wrong one. We had to
wait for 2 hours before our hosts found us. Then we talked about it and it came
out that there was misunderstood with language – we waited in bus stop and not
in bus station. But
in Estonian language its the same. We got a lesson for rest
of our lives. We laughed about it a long time after.
When
we got to hotel – which was acually simple school dorm. We unpacked our things
and went to dinner. Later when others came to check out our room they were
surprised that we had twice as big trashcan
as they had and also we had fridge
and cupboard and coat rack.
The
places what we visited were very interesting. Especially the KGB prison and
former soviet civil defense base (so called bunker), where was survival drama
about life in Soviet Union 1984. During that survival drama we had big coats
and we were allowed to answer only : „Tak tochno! – mean yes and „net, nikak
net“ – what means no. If we laughed or made mistakes against rules, we got
punishment. The general swore was it very funny. I know Russian and it was 20
times more funny because nothing went missing
in translation. Then we saw old
soviet shop with few things and old medical care room.
In
KGB prison were guide who talked really interesting, i didnt want miss not a
single word.
We
also visited place called Tuskulenai manor where were found around 724 bodies
shot by Soviet regime between 1944 and 1947. It was really sceary place and
when i went in i got a head ache immediatly.
But its still very faschinating.
I
liked also our free time in shopping center and i bought gifts to my friends. I
have to say that in Lithuania are prices cheaper than in Estonia.
I
liked my visit and its always sad to leave new fiends so qickly.
My Comenius days in Lithuania

When
I first heard that there was a chance to go to Lithuania, I knew that I wanted
to know. Luckily, our group consisted of quite friendly and co-operative
people. The drive there was very long. We had to wake up at 2am, to catch a bus
which took us to the capital and from there we caught a bus to Lithuania.
Our
project members were all very great. We all got along quite well and friendly.
I can't complain about anything about them, as they were all great fun to be
around.
During
our stay in Vilnius we got up to a lot of things, not including the activities
we did as a part of the project. For example, one night, at 10.30pm we decided
to go out and buy ourselves some pizza, as we had spotted a place earlier. Me
and two others of our group ventured out in the night to get those said
delicious food items. When we reached the pizza place, we realised that none of
us spoke Lithuanian and therefore we ordered our food depending sorely on the
pictures that had been provided on the menus.
The
prices in Lithuania were drastically different from the prices in Estonia.
Everything was very very cheap and that was one of the best discoveries. Before
I went to Lithuania, some people told me that it will be very expensive there
and whatnot, but turns out they were as wrong as one can be.
In
conclusion, I really enjoyed the trip and the whole project in Lithuania. If I
ever had the chance I would surely go again. Everyone was very nice and not at
all always angry looking like us, Estonians, sometimes tend to look.
