Hi,
these are the compositions of the German students who visited Lithuania.
Enjoy the reading! :)
My Comenius-Trip to Vilnius
by Alicia Lindner
On Thursday we arrived at the hotel and checked in first. I had to share my room with a very nice girl from Croatia. Later we had lunch. Then, we, only the Germans, went to the old town of Vilnius to change money and to look around and get some first impressions. Back in the Hotel we got dinner and in the evening
we talked a bit
with other German people, who live there to learn Lithuanian. On Friday we had
our first breakfast at the hotel. After that the whole group with people from
Hungary, Spain, Estonia, Croatia, Poland and Germany went to Sirvintos where we
met the local authorities. Later we went to the school in Gelvonai, where we
met the Lithuanian people, some of them were already in Germany. We
watched some movies
of every country which was very interesting .We also got a
very good lunch there. After that, we went to
a place with some big hills and
we explored the area and enjoyed the view and then we visited a very
interesting archeology and history museum. Later we went back to the school,
had again some presentations and then dinner. In the evening we learned some
traditional folk dances in the school gym and after that we had a little disco
there, which was much fun. The next day, the whole group went to a part of a
wall, which was painted with the colors of the Lithuanian flag. Afterwards we
went to a church in the old-town of Vilnius and had free time there. Then we
went to the National museum next to the church, which was similar to the first
museum but it was very big and also interesting. For lunch we went back to the
hotel and went again to the city for the KGB museum, which was the most interesting,
I think, because you could look at the old rooms and the instruments and things
and so on. In the evening all teams went to a traditional restaurant where some
of us had to make Cepelinai, which is a dumbling filled with meat and we had a
very good dinner there. At night, back in the hotel, we talked with the
people from the other countries and made new friends and had a lot of fun
together. On Sunday, our last real day, we went to some memorials and to the TV
tower of Vilnius, but we were not allowed to go up the tower, which was a pity.
For lunch we went back to the hotel again. In the afternoon, we visited the
highlight of the whole program: a Soviet bunker.
It was such an experience
there and it was very exciting to see all these old things, they had in this
time, like their clothes, their underwear or their medicine. In my opinion, it
was the best part of the trip. In the evening we went to a huge mall and bowled
there and had pizza. We also had a bit free time there. In the Hotel,
we
enjoyed our last evening with the other people. And on Monday, we had
breakfast first and then only the Germans went to the old-town again and had
free time, which was very nice. At lunch time we said good bye to everyone and
went to the airport. I was a bit sad, that we had to leave after this short
time, because all the people were so nice and the city as well. I would have
liked to stay there for another couple of days.

Thursday
First of all,
the arrival was no problem. We had two flights, one from Nuremberg to Frankfurt
and the second from Frankfurt to Vilnius.
We had quite a long stay in
Frankfurt. The arrival
in Vilnius was good and we got a little city tour. Then
we went to the hostel. My first impression was not so good but later it became
better. An interesting fact was that they had dinner at 16 o’clock and ‘supper’
at 18 o’clock. In the evening we went to the Old Town of Vilnius, which was
actually quite good,
you could see the different faces of the city, because we
lived in a poorer quarter of the city.
Friday
The Exhibition in the museum |
After the first night in the hostel the whole exchange
was getting better. After the breakfast we went to Širvintos where we met the mayor of this town.
In a
conversation we got to know everyone a little bit more and were informed about
the project. After that, we went to the school where we had presentations of each
country. The next step was the old capital of Lithuania where we had a
fantastic view over the old defense hills of the capital. Then we went to a
museum where we saw the exhibitions of that town. Back at school we had one
more presentation and dinner. We left the school in the evening.

Saturday
On Saturday we went to Vilnius downtown to see a
little bit more about the city. After an hour of free-time we visited the next
museum, it was about some exhibitions in Vilnius but it was too long and
therefore a bit boring. After lunch we visited the KGB-museum, which was more
interesting than the first one. In the past
it was a prison. After that, we went to a traditional-Lithuanian restaurant. For me, the food there was okay.

Sunday
The last day of the project. We drove around Vilnius
and visited a famous wall and the TV-Tower, but it was closed and we couldn’t
go up. We had a quick step in another museum with exhibitions and an
underground-church. After lunch in the hostel we went to the best part of the exchange,
the soviet-bunker. The bunker was very interesting and we learned how to put on
a gas mask. In the evening we went bowling in a big shopping-center. Sunday was
the best day.
After another walk in downtown Vilnius, we said Goodbye to all and drove to the airport, where we finally flew home again.

My Comenius days in Lithuania
by Schädlich Philipp
Our flight to Lithuania was on Thursday. It was very
early. We had to get up at 2.30.
Our first flight was from Nürnberg to Frankfurt, it
was very short. 30 minutes I think.
In Frankfurt we had to wait 4 hours for the flight to
Vilnius. That was boring.
The flight to Vilnius took 2 hours. When we arrived in
Lithuania we first met the Hungarian team, they were niceJ. 10 Minutes later we wereon the bus to our ‘hotel’. It
was a hotel for Lithuanian kids which can’t live at home. Our rooms were a bit
small but it was ok. The first night was a bit short. On Friday morning we had
breakfast with all the others. After that we visited the school of the
Lithuanian teens. It’s a very small school with 150 pupils. We watched some
films about the other countries, which were made bythe pupils. After that we
visited a museum about the first people in Lithuania. We saw the big and old
protecting wall and the old capital of Lithuania and a big church. Saturday was
a very nice day. First, we visited the old town of Vilnius and the big
cathedral. After that the national museum, which was about the freedom of
Lithuania. In the end we visited a very
interesting prison of the KGB. We saw the cells and execution room. That was
interesting.
Sunday was the best day. We visited the old Soviet
bunker in Vilnius. We had to be real soldiers in war.
The bunker was 6 meters
under the ground. We had to wear gas masks and had to run with them. That was a
bit breath-taking, but it was funny, because you didn’t see anything. In the
end we had lunch in the bunker.
In the evening we went bowling and shopping in
a reeeaaally big shopping center. In the shopping center there was a bowling
area, a 5 d cinema and an ice hall, it was big. In the end it was a very nice
trip to Lithuania, with nice people and nice new friends. Wanna go to Lithuania
again, with my friends in Germany.
